With so many things on his plate during a busy off-season, Vikings head coach Brad Childress says he has been unable to find the time to talk with back-up quarterback Tarvaris Jackson. Childress has promised that he'll find a better time to speak to Jackson, but his schedule is just too hectic right now.
"I feel bad about not talking to Tarvaris, I really do," said Childress. "It's just unfortunate that his schedule and my schedule don't match up, because it would be a pleasure to discuss the game of football with him. It really would. But I'm an NFL head coach, I can't rearrange my life for one player."
Childress says Jackson wanted to sit down in the coach's office the other day at the team facility, but Childress told Jackson he had other things going on.
"Honestly, I just wasn't in the mood that day," said Childress. "I tried that old trick of not making eye contact, but that didn't work so I just said I had an important meeting with our scouts about the upcoming draft. Thank goodness he bought it."
Childress remains uncommitted to a specific meeting time, but insists that he will communicate with Jackson in the near future, once his schedule opens up a bit.
"Well, there's the draft, and then mini-camps, then training camp, and then the season will be here, so it looks like I'm pretty booked up. Maybe I'll just send him a message on Facebook or something."
