Even elite athletes will make mistakes, Vancouver Winter Games included, where several skiers, snowboarders and skaters have fallen while competing in their respective events. Joseph Stewartson, who has been known to slip on ice while simply walking, thinks it is a total embarrassment for an Olympic athlete to fall in a sport they've trained their entire life for.
"That [Lindsey] Vonn should be ashamed with her performance," said Stewartson, 36, a resident of Silver Lake, MN. "She's a world class skier and she falls while skiing! Unbelievable!"
Stewartson, who recently took a tumble while slowly walking groceries to his car, went on to further criticize Olympians that are unable to finish an event due to slipping or falling down.
"If an athlete can't complete the course designed for their event, they shouldn't even be at the Olympics. Skiers falling down, speed skaters crashing into the wall - don't they have qualifying events ahead of time to determine if a competitor is even mildly athletic?"
Stewartson then went out to retrieve the day's mail, only to slip at the end of the sidewalk and take a header into a three foot snowdrift.
